Hanafi Say Amir Muawiyah (r.a.) was a Rebel from Islam
Hanafis claim to respect all of the Sahaabah (companions) -may Allah be pleased with them. However, in their books, disgusting attacks on the character of such eminent companions as Abu Hurairah (radiyallahu anhu) can be found in abundance. Here is one example of Hanafis declaring about the companion Mu'awiyah that he was a rebel from Islam, went to war against the Imam, and was a killer of the Sahaabah:
لَيْسَ الْمُرَادُ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ أَمْرٌ ابْتَدَعَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ فِي الدِّينِ بِنَاءً عَلَى خَطَئِهِ كَالْبَغْيِ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ ، وَمُحَارَبَةِ الْإِمَامِ ، وَقَتْلِ الصَّحَابَةِ

Muawiyah was a rebel is mentioned in hadeeth books as well. All the prominent early salafi scholars believe Muawiyah to be a rebel.
